What sets the Curetracks project apart from other research projects?
- Curetracks aims to be the largest-ever field research analyzing the effectiveness of non-conventional cancer treatments. The research is about building a worldwide puzzle – a global cumulative view – out of thousands of pieces based on patients’ life-experience:
-
Examining a very broad spectrum of treatment methods, reflecting ancient medical traditions as well as modern knowledge of researchers and breakthrough innovators
-
Based on real patients’ life-experience, directly reported (not hearsay, speculation or laboratory experiments)
-
Using a variety of platforms and communication channels – including the internet and social networks – to reach broad populations and actively call-out to patients to take part in the field research
- The project applies advanced research methodologies to reach reliable valid conclusions:
-
Structured, uniform methodology for collecting, verifying and analyzing patient reports. The methodology is applied by medical students for in-depth interviewing of reporting patients as to their disease course, treatments and cure process
-
Vast scope of findings allowing the build-up of results with strong statistical significance. Collecting evidence from around the world to neutralize a local/genetic effect
-
Outcome-oriented analysis, allowing causal analysis of a variety of methods and components which were all present in the cure process
-
Patient-Driven: The project is geared to promote the welfare of patients and its objective is to make its findings available –as a decision-supportive tool – to those who need it: Cancer patients, their families and friends
-
Global Impact: The results of the project - whatever their direction – are expected to have substantial global impact…
-
Whether common patterns are identified across cure cases, leading to promising new treatment methodologies and protocols
-
Whether beneficial treatment methods which can support the cure process of cancer patients are identified and brought to light
-
…or if there is evidence that non-conventional treatment methods are not effective – which may focus patients’ efforts and cure process on conventional treatments only

Why does the project focus only on cancer?
Cancer is close to becoming the #1 cause of mortality in the Western world, and is growing in epidemic dimensions. There has been some progress in dealing with cancer over the recent decades, yet despite huge research budgets the medical world is still struggling in its efforts to find breakthroughs, and in many cases the curing ability is limited and entails severe side-effectrs.. In the resulting vacuum, dozens of non-conventional treatment methods were developed – some probably have essential merits while others offer no more than false hope. That adds to the suffering of cancer patients – who don't have any sound way to evaluate which treatment can save their lives. The project aims to overcome the information problem, to surface valuable methods and create a bridge where cooperation can take place between the two worlds, so that accumulated benefits can be best leveraged. The success of the project in the cancer area can then lead to applying this platform to other diseases as well. |

Are there real success cases with non-conventional cure methods?
There are many non-conventional cure-cases which we, the project's leaders, know personally. However, we, and probably all cancer patients would like to find out the consistency of such therapies in curing cancer, and the degree to which they are suited to treat different cancer types and conditions. There are also, of course, many of these non-conventional treatments that fall far from having any effect, or that should be avoided by patients. The unique opportunity to track thousands of cases where cancer patients have been using non-conventional treatments in different conditions may allow us to reach the important answers that have not been available or feasible till now. |

Why haven't these non-conventional methods been researched before?
Most inventors of non-conventional treatments may not have been able to afford the enormous budgets required to meet the high standards of large monitored clinical trials. The drug-companies, that have the required research budget cannot be partnered, since most of these methods cannot be patent-protected to ensure future profits. Furthermore, in the mist of lack of evidence, some charlatans take advantage of the situation and offer false treatments that patients could not verify. With IT and internet technologies, it is now possible to examine, in the most efficient manner, which methods demonstrate a curing effect and which do not. When a focused set of promising therapies will significantly emerge from the data gathered we will ensure that they are thoroughly studied: with the support of philanthropists and a network of research institutes we will make sure these methods meet the full scientific/medical standards. |

Who is behind this project?
curetracks is a non-for-profit, global collaborative project, launched from Israel in 2011, with the goal to promote the recovery of cancer patients and accelerate the discovery of the sought-after cure. The project enjoys the support of a growing circle of caring people from all over the world, and is responsively led by dedicated and experienced professionals, with rich multi-disciplinary backgrounds. (Read more in the relevant section "about us"). The project's initial funding will be primarily based on private donors that were ascertained to have no business interest in any aspect of the project or its results. |

How will the information be protected?
The personal information provided by patients will be kept with care and under full confidentiality by curetracks and will not be given to any third party. All the analysis of the information will be conducted by the curetracks team only. Only statistical data will be made public. |

How can the reliability of patient testimonies be ascertained?
In order to preempt fraud attempts or possible mistakes, any information provided by patients will be verified and analyzed using a variety of methods and tools – including detailed interviews and validation of medical documentation – in order to ensure credibility and a reliable comprehensive view of all the data. |

How will the findings be shared with patients?
As information is accumulated in sufficient scope –so as to be of value in patients' decision making - it will be possible to share relevant statistical data with patients. The data provided will not in any way form a recommendation on one treatment method or another but will reflect all patient testimonies gathered and validated by us till this point with the best available tools.
Reaching a definite set of promising therapies will allow us later on to research and study them, while meeting the strictest scientific standards. curetracks is open to develop relationships with multiple research institutes in order to research the emerging patterns as well as outstanding methods or combinations. |
